MODELS OF FAITH IN CATHOLIC CHURCH

Pope Paul VIs depiction of the church as a mystery is a good place to start: he described it as a mystery. It is a reality that is infused with Gods secret presence. The Churchs mystery is disclosed in Jesus, Gods word become human, who reveals it all. The mystery, message, and mission of the Church are all centered on Jesus, as depicted in the New Testament. The Second Vatican Councils document, The Constitution of the Church in the Modern World (Lumen Gentium), uses this notion of mystery extensively. The variety and diversity of imagery and ways of perceiving the concept of Church are revealed by the mystery of the church.  The Bible is the source of such pictures and understandings, and they are the foundation of the so-called Christian faith.
